VR Lens Lab (est. 2015)

vrcovergauss

VR Lens Lab is a collaborative effort between VR Cover and Gauss Eyewear.
Our mission: Since 2015 we aim to enhance your VR experience with outstanding prescription lens quality and more.
Competitive advantage: With 40 years of experience in optics and lens technology, VR Lens Lab produces lenses op superior quality at a professional high-end lens lab using free-form technology.
Your benefit:  By cutting out the middleman we can offer an unrivaled package of quality lenses at very competitive prices.

Replacing Costs With Quality

Our Concept

VR Lens Lab - Concept

Others need to order lenses from a supplier but we make the lenses in our lab and send them directly to you, our customer. The costs saved by omitting the middleman is reinvested in lens technology and quality.
Our free-form lenses have 0.01dpt precision on surface edging and our coating has less than 1% residual reflex. This combination makes the lens as clear as possible. You can get a full blue screen light filter with our optional Relax Eye Set. Your eyes will thank you.
Additionally as lens makers we can influence every step of production instead of only basic parameters.

Advanced Lens Technology

Field of View

Custom, Optimized, Maximized

Lens Lab & Tech - FoV Explained

With each step, the keyhole-effect is reduced, yielding a larger Field of View. By having direct access to a professional high-end lens lab, our advantage is your benefit. Select your desired Field of View to enjoy outstanding lens precision and the best possible VR experience. Our unique free-form technology is available for optimized and maximized options, with the latter offering the largest Field of View by minimizing the distance between the prescription lens and headset lens.
Depending on your prescription the thinnest adapter possible is selected.

Free-Form

Every lens influences the Field of View (FoV), mostly due to the distance between headset lens, prescription lens and eye. But also the prescription strength, thickness and lens surface play a major role in your VR experience.

Custom includes high quality lenses with best coatings but is the “curviest” of the three options, due to the manufacturing process. For e.g. the Quest and Quest 2 an adapter of 13mm height is required.

Our unique free-form technology has the biggest impact with the optimized and maximized options; featuring additional base curve adjustment. (see picture on the right) The latter offers the largest Field of View by minimizing the distance between the prescription lens and headset lens. For e.g. the Quest and Quest 2 a 9mm adapter is possible.

Free-form allows for a better distribution of prescription. Each step comes with more advanced algorithms expanding the crisp viewing area and enhancing it’s perimeter. (Within physical constraints, of course)

By having direct access to a professional high-end lens lab, our advantage is your benefit. Select your desired Field of View to enjoy outstanding lens precision and the best possible VR experience.

Digital Light Protection

In our digital lives, our eyes are increasingly exposed to sources of harmful radiation that can cause eye strain and permanent damage. High Energy Visible (HEV) light is blue-violet to blue in color with  a wavelength of 400–500 nanometer (nm). It is often referred to as blue light or digital light. These wavelengths can pass through unprotected lenses and damage the retinal pigments in the back of your eyes. The blue light radiation emitted by digital device screens also interferes with your melatonin production and can diminish your sleep quality.
Digitial devices emit invisible magnetic interference which discomforts your eyes over time.
The Radiation Shield prevents eye fatigue and improves visual comfort.
With LightCap420, the light is filtered below vr wave length of 420nm, reducing eye strain and bringing more comfort to your eyes.

Prolonged exposure to blue light in VR or from a computer screen can cause eye strain. Unlike so-called ‘video game glasses’ that only shift the color spectrum with yellow tinted lenses, Blueguard VR helps to protect your eyes by reflecting some of the harmful light without affecting the true color of images.
